StartUp Creative was never meant to be a big corporate business.
I will admit that there have been times over the past 3 years I have toyed with the idea of having a big office full of employees, a company car and a CEO style corner office in some big city. But I really don’t think it’s for me.
You see, the desire to start my own business came from the lack of freedom that a ‘traditional 9-5’ career in Australia gave me. I hated that I was only entitled to 4 weeks holiday a year. My health and that of my families could only afford 10 sick days a year and my creative and earning capacity was capped and restricted by those higher up the ladder.
I remember feeling a sense of being trapped, stuck, frustrated and unmotivated. I had worked so hard to get where I wanted and was shocked when I finally realised that I was in the rat race, working for someone else's dreams in the most restricted and uninspiring way.
Since taking the leap to leave my safe and secure job in August 2014 I have never felt so free in my life. The first week of waking up and having nowhere to be was exhilarating and a tad scary at first. I found myself constantly reminding myself that I had no one to answer to and that I was in total control of what my day/life would look like from here on in.
I soon came to realise that the purpose of StartUp Creative was so much more than just teaching people how to start their own business.
StartUp Creative exists today to teach you how to create a life of freedom and joy and running a business is just a means to help you make that happen.
My purpose in life is to enable you to chase your dreams. Your truth, your freedom. To take risks that scare you, to break the norm, go against the grain, break out from the expectations you have for yourself and those that others project onto you.
I truly believe with every cell in my body that humans are designed to be free. We all have a purpose in this world, each unique to its owner. But somewhere along the way, we were sold a lie.
We were told that life has a handful of ways of planning out and that your purpose is to play along with what society pressures you to believe is the correct path for your race, gender, age and social status.
What would happen if we all asked ourselves the question, what is my purpose and am I truly living it right now?
My guess is that the world would explode with vibrant, creative, innovative energy and would be a very magical and colourful place to exist.
So in a bid to truly honour my own purpose in this world, I have decided to put my money where my mouth is and take StartUp Creative on the road, around the world in fact.
I have spent the last 3 years coaching people from around the globe to find their passion, follow their dreams and take massive action to bring them to life. It’s now time for me to take some of my own advice.
Today I am embarking on a journey to take StartUp Creative around the world. It is something that I have always wanted to do, to see the world and weave my business and passion into my adventures.
So after 3 years of building a reputable business, it’s time to test the theory of making money whilst traveling the globe. My goal is to live my dreams to the absolute fullest, take massive action and I’m sure plenty of risks to become the truest, greatest version of myself.
I must admit it took a very painful and heart breaking experience in my personal life for me to come to this moment in time. You never do know how life will deliver you your dreams but I am so very excited to go on this journey with you and showcase the entrepreneurial scene from around the globe.
Here’s what to expect from StartUp Creative over the coming months.
