3 Steps to Bring Back Your Motivation Have you fo 3 Steps to Bring Back Your Motivation

Have you found yourself struggling to get started on your to-do list, take action on your goals and find yourself thinking there’s never enough time to get shit done?

I hear you. I’ve often found myself in the same boat and it is a common occurrence in the coaching clients I work with across the globe.

I firmly believe that a businesses success is a combination of viability (the ability for the company to make a profit) and a founders ability to take action.

It’s worth noting that motivation to take action will ebb and flow throughout the stages of your business. The good news is that with the right strategies, strong will power and consistent effort that it can be kickstarted. Just like with any new skill, it first takes understanding when and where you feel unmotivated, educating yourself about what strategies work best for you and then comes the mastery of the daily habits until it becomes an unconscious and automated response that has you harnessing your focus and motivation and not being pulled off track when the roadblocks appear.

Here are 3 tips to help you activate your motivation:

Get clear on your intention/direction- When you don’t know where you’re headed how do you expect to know where to start? Often motivation gets derailed by a lack of clarity on what we are out to achieve. In this pre-decision phase we are more likely to get distracted, lose interest and spin in circles avoiding taking action. The first step to activating motivation is to make a deliberate and clear decision about where you plan on going. When was the last time you revisited your 5 year plan, told someone you big picture or got excited about a goal that got your excited?

A quote that that has stuck with me over the years A quote that that has stuck with me over the years—
“The mind is like Velcro for negative experiences, and Teflon for positive ones.” -Rick Hanson

I come back to this when I notice myself spiral from a hard day in the office. When things aren’t going to plan, it’s easy to convince ourselves that it will never work.

For me, knowing that my brain is wired to have a negative bias to failure and setbacks but that I have the power to rewire it for a more optimistic outlook has helped me to move through the not so fun days in business.

My tips to help battle the low days:

•Give attention to the wins. Let them sink in & create strong neuropathways in your brain, to be a source of confidence & a reminder that you can handle whatever comes your way.

•Visualise a future beyond the hard times. What does it look/feel/sound like?Who are you surrounded by and what are you doing?Feel it and activate the emotions in your body so it can act as a compass for where you’re headed

•Make 1 small promise to yourself each day. Something in your reach, accomplishable and evidence you can use to prove to yourself that you have what it takes. Use the small win to motivate you to take action on the next small step forward

•Lean on people. When you’re finding it hard to see your strengths, reach out to your support network and ask for a reminder of your best qualities. Let them remind you of your potential and give you an outside perspective beyond the emotions that may be flooding your body in the moment

•Zoom out & make a plan. It feels converinutative at a time when everything seems to be falling apart, but allowing yourself to stop, have a cry, and let the emotion be felt and move through you will give you a fresh perspective on what lessons you’re being shown through the hardships you’re facing.

•Make a list of wins! I’m trying to do more of this these days so that I have proof of how far I’ve come and that it’s not all bad.

We tend to focus on the negative and let it derail our wins and successes over time but when we’re able to remove some of the emotional charge and find ways to move back into an optimistic mindset, we are better equipped to find a way through the shit.
There’s no shortage of remarkable ideas, what’ There’s no shortage of remarkable ideas, what’s missing is the will to execute them.

One of my favourite things about running our onlin One of my favourite things about running our online community is the live morning check-in’s that we share each month with our Coaching Academy Squad.

It’s become a place where we come together to share what’s been going on in our businesses, the highs and lows, and where I am able to offer tailored business coaching advice specific to each persons needs. But most importantly, it’s a place were we can all relate to one another about the struggles we face as creatives, entrepreneurs and freelancers, as well as celebrate and support each others wins & business success.

This morning our squad shared openly and honestly about the raw struggles of cashflow as creatives/freelancers/startup founders.

Together we validated how shit it can feel and the ways in which it can derail our creativity and deflate the inspiration needed to take action in and on our business tasks and goals.

I shared my personal tips from my experience over the years on how to get out of the lack and scarcity funk and strategies for reigniting cash-flow in your business + books to help with money mindset.

You can join our Coaching Academy at anytime and stay as long as you like. It’s a safe space and a beautiful reminder that we’re all in this together. Community has always been a powerful force to support one another and an everyday reminder that we’re not alone on this journey.

All of our checkins and masterclasses are recorded so you can watch them back at your own pace and work through the allocated resources, extra tips and support that I provide alongside each Masterclass training.

Oh and you can also directly chat with me & the other members as soon as you’re in the squad- they’re all fabulous and you’ll love them.

Hi, hey, hello! I am Kay, founder of StartUp Creat Hi, hey, hello!
I am Kay, founder of StartUp Creative. I’m a Business Coach, Author, Podcast Host and proud Indigenous Woman.

I started this little business when I was 23, seven or so years ago and have worked with tens of thousands creative entrepreneurs, business owners, freelancers and side hustlers from all around the world over the years.

It’s been a hot minute since I shared about myself so I thought I’d use these new headshots from @bynicolecooper as an excuse to give you a little insight incase you’re new here.

10 not so business things about me…

#1. My bloodline carries that of the First Nations People of this country, the oldest living culture in the entire world.

#2. I identify as Queer but didn’t ‘come out’ until I was 23, before that I was a school Chaplain and ended up losing my job because of it but it was the best thing to have ever happened to me & I couldn’t be more proud to stand with my LGBTIQA+ community in life and in business.

#3. I am a Capricorn in so many ways. Which pretty much just means I’m highly competitive in everything that I do, I love a routine (sometimes too much), can be very black and white and like to make plans- which is pretty much my job as a Business Coach, so it’s working out ok.

#4. I didn’t have an MBA when I started my business, nor did I have previous ‘business experience’ - I did have a vision and the willingness to go after it with my entire being and yes, I was and still get scared but am learning to act in the face of fear more and more each day and trust my intuition

#5. I can not fathom, stand or stomach the injustice of our Indigenous people in this country- racism, deaths in custody, over representation in the legal system, the stolen generation of our languages and culture & will always fight for the sovereignty of our people to be restored and respected

#6. I believe we are all here on this earth for a reason. We each have a purpose that is innate and unique to us all and our job is to peel back the stories, limiting beliefs and fear that keeps us from hearing our hearts longings so as to live it fully.
